Reason for consulting

Osteopathy for babies and children — Paris 14th and Asnières

A baby who always turns their head to the same side, crying that suggests colic, a flat spot appearing on the skull: after the paediatrician's opinion, a very gentle osteopathy session can support those first months. I also see children and teenagers.

01 — Babies

The first months' complaints

Birth is an intense effort for a baby, and some tension can persist afterwards. The most frequent reasons for consulting: an infant torticollis — the head preferring one side —, an early flat head (plagiocephaly, often linked to the preferred position), or colic and digestive discomfort that punctuate the late afternoons.

The techniques used with a baby have nothing in common with an adult session: very light pressure, gentle mobilisations, never any forced movement or "cracking". The session always takes place with the parents present, at the baby's pace — we pause, feed, comfort.

For the preferred position and flat head, positioning advice for home (tummy time while awake, cot orientation, carrying) is a full part of the support: it is often what moves things forward the most.

02 — Children and teenagers

Growing without stiffening

With children and teenagers the reasons change: everyday falls and small knocks, discomfort after sport, school bags and screen postures, phases of rapid growth. The assessment adapts to the age, and the techniques remain gentle and explained — the child understands what is happening, and the parent attends the session.

The paediatrician comes first — for a baby, an osteopathy consultation always follows the examination by the paediatrician or the doctor who follows the child, never replaces it. Fever, vomiting, a break in the weight curve, unusual behaviour: those situations call for medical advice without delay. Osteopathy is no substitute for paediatric care, vaccinations or scheduled screenings.
