Osteopathy and functional digestive issues — Paris 14th and Asnières
Bloating at the end of the day, unpredictable transit, a knotted stomach during busy periods: when the medical check-up has found nothing worrying, these so-called "functional" discomforts can be supported with osteopathy.
When the belly speaks
A digestive complaint is called functional when the discomfort is very real — bloating, heaviness after meals, irregular transit, occasional acid reflux — but medical examinations have not found an underlying disease. It is an extremely common situation, often sustained by stress, prolonged sitting, short breathing or irregular meal rhythms.
The digestive system is not isolated from the rest of the body: it hangs in a cavity whose roof is the diaphragm, surrounded by a frame — spine, ribs, pelvis — whose tension can echo into its comfort. A back that locks up, a diaphragm that breathes short in stressful periods: all elements a session can explore.
What osteopathy can bring
After talking through your symptoms, your eating habits and your pace of life, the assessment looks at the mobility of the diaphragm, the abdomen, the back and the pelvis. The techniques used on the belly are slow and gentle; they can help relax the area and give the breath more ease. Simple markers complete the session: breathing, posture at the table and at the desk, physical activity.
Medical diagnosis comes first — digestive symptoms that persist, worsen or come with unusual signs (weight loss, blood, fever, night pain) must be explored by a doctor before any session. Osteopathy supports a complaint identified as functional; it replaces neither diagnosis nor medical care.
