Reason for consulting

Pregnancy and postpartum osteopathy — Paris 14th and Asnières

The body changes fast during pregnancy, and some pains invite themselves without warning: lower back, pelvis, sciatica. I support pregnant women with gentle techniques and positioning adapted to the term — and after the birth, when the body reorganises itself.

01 — During pregnancy

A body adapting continuously

From the second trimester, the centre of gravity moves forward: the lumbar curve deepens to balance the weight of the belly, the pelvis tilts, and the back muscles work harder. In the third trimester, hormones soften the ligaments to prepare for the birth — which makes the pelvis more mobile, but also more sensitive.

This is the context in which the most frequent complaints appear: lower back pain, sacroiliac pain (at the back of the pelvis, on one side or both), sciatica-like pain, pubic discomfort, a feeling of a "locked" pelvis. The session aims to maintain the mobility of the pelvis and of the areas that compensate — back, hips, diaphragm — using exclusively gentle techniques.

Positioning adapts to the term: on the side (lateral position) with positioning cushions, seated or semi-seated, whatever is comfortable for you. No position is imposed, and the session follows how you feel on the day.

02 — After the birth

The postpartum, a time of its own

After the birth, the body reorganises itself: the pelvis gradually settles back, the abdominal wall regains tone, the back absorbs the carrying and the short nights. A postpartum consultation takes stock of the tension that persists — pelvis, lower back, between the shoulder blades — and supports this transition at your own pace, alongside the perineal rehabilitation prescribed by your midwife or doctor.

The timing is chosen with your care team; there is no urgency and no imposed calendar. Come as you are — with your baby if needed.

Two important precautions — osteopathic support never replaces the obstetric medical care provided by your midwife, gynaecologist or maternity hospital. And some situations require prior medical advice: bleeding, unusual contractions, high blood pressure, fever, or any pregnancy monitored as high-risk. When in doubt, talk to your care team first.
